The City of West Monroe is turning 140 this year!
In honor of the City's 140th birthday, a number of special events and projects will take place throughout the year.
Visual works of art are currently being sought for a special art exhibit at City Hall. Visual works of art will be on display at City Hall throughout the year. Entries are due by February 28 to the West Monroe Mayor's Office.
An essay contest for middle school students and a poster contest for elementary students will be held this spring.
Middle and high school students currently enrolled in grades 6-12 who live in the City of West Monroe or the west side of the Ouachita River are invited to enter the essay contest.
Essays can address a variety of topics including a student’s experiences of growing up in West Monroe, things a student enjoys about the community or thoughts about West Monroe’s future.
One winning essay from the following grade categories will be awarded – 6-8 grades; 9-10 grades and 11-12 grades. Entries must be submitted via email to wm140@westmonroe.la.gov by Friday, March 31 at 5 p.m. A complete list of rules can be found at: https://tinyurl.com/4hs3e2k3
